_ABILITIES:

Zack is a SOLDIER. Technically speaking, anyone in this particular class haven’t just been exposed to mako; they’ve been injected with Jenova cells. It enhances all physicals skills (such as strength, agility, speed, endurance) and lends to what might be known as a “super solider”. His weapon of choice is the Buster Sword, which he wields with remarkable easy considering its size and weight. (He has been known to easily cut missiles in half with it and survive their detonation.)

He also has access to the DMW, which is Crisis Core’s “limit break” system. His memories and moods may affect this, resulting in attacks being more powerful during heightened emotional states. If he is in possession of a summon materia, that particular summon may also be added to the DMW. His limit breaks reflect those of the people in his life and vary in inflicted damage. His limit breaks consist of "Octoslash", "Rush Assault", "Air Strike", "Lucky Stars", "Healing Wave", and "Meteor Shots" following Sephiroth, Angeal, Tseng, Cissnei, Aerith, and Cloud respectively.

In short, though he may not act the part, he is a very adept fighter.

Yet, while he’s stronger than most normal people, Zack isn’t invincible and could very well become injured if his opponent is stronger or more capable/skilled than he is. And while it is a strength, his willingness to push forward past his own limits could be considered a bit reckless. At the end of Crisis Core, it is this mentality that ultimately causes his death.

_PERSONALITY:

Right away, it is easy to tell that Zack is a very energetic type of guy. He’s incredibly outgoing and always ready to work. In fact, this sort of behavior has earned him the nickname “Zack the Puppy” from his mentor, Angeal, and it appears repeatedly through the course of Crisis Core as others get to know him. Zack is also rather positive, tending to look more on the bright side of things. Even when the situations are dire, he’s determined to see his job through.

One of the more important aspects of Zack’s character is how serious he takes having honor and pursuing dreams. The integrity of a person defines them in Zack’s eyes, so it’s important for others around him to uphold their own just as he does. Some might argue that a sense of pride is attached to honor, and while Zack takes pride in his skills as SOLDIER, it does not take precedence over his honor as a person and as someone with the capability of protecting those who cannot protect themselves. As for dreams, without them, Zack would have never been able to reach 1st Class, and he believes it’s necessary to embrace those goals to become a better person. In fact, these two things are ingrained in Zack through and through. When others close to him betrayed him, it was difficult for him to accept such a drastic change in their character. With Angeal, in particular, until he had understood exactly what it was he’d done and why, Zack had difficulty accepting the fact someone as honor-bound as his mentor had completely changed. Yet, as time goes on, it’s clear that Zack begins to accept a different clarity to what honor means. While it is a form of loyalty, it is to those people he cares about and loves rather than the particular ideals of an organization (re: Shinra).

In fact, prior to his death, Zack deemed Cloud his “living legacy” in upholding his dreams and honor. They are that important to him.

Another key thing to note about Zack is the fact he is VERY persistent. If there is something he wants, he will go for it and work at it until he’s achieved the closest thing to it as possible. This is visible in the way he makes various attempts to woo and impress Aerith. Running errands for her or even building her a flower cart, there is no end to what he’s willing to do as long as it’s within the bounds of upholding his core beliefs. He would not intentionally harm someone, no matter the cost, and even directly asked, he would have a difficult time agreeing unless they weren’t a good person. He puts equal effort into protecting those he loves and those he does not know. It’s his “duty”, and Zack, for as lighthearted as he appears, takes that rather seriously.

Zack is also known to befriend almost anyone with ease due to the fact he is quite sociable. However, he often has a low attention span, easily distracted depending on the situation, and though that rarely affects the completion of his missions, it has led to some interesting outcomes and conversations. When stressed or excitable (sometimes, it’s hard to tell the difference), he can be seen pacing around or even doing squats to exert all of that extra energy because he has no idea what to do with it. As mentioned before, he is rather protective of his friends and will do absolutely anything to see them safe. If escaping a locked basement and traveling with a comatose friend doesn’t demonstrate the lengths at which Zack is willing to go, nothing does.

Important to note, because of his occasionally lacking attention span, Zack often forgets to do simple things such as write letters or get in touch with people when he’s off being an honorable SOLDIER. In fact, he’d forgotten to inform his parents of leaving until several years later, and the same is seen later when he’s with Aerith. He doesn’t mean to do it; he simply gets too distracted by the current mission or task at hand.

Unfortunately (fortunately?), he can also be a bit of a flirt. Sorry, Aerith.

One day, he hopes to become a hero and continously tries to live up to the aspirations of those who have inspired and moved him. He’s easily inspired and strengthened by those around him, and his own attitude has been known to equally inspire others to stretch past their limits.

He doesn’t really remembering showing up here, but he knows what these places are for. Places like Honey Bee Inn. Except this isn’t Midgar, and it’s certainly not the slums. The decor says as much.

Zack doesn’t think he’s nervous, though he shifts around in the empty room and walks around the bed several times the handful of minutes he waits for the person who’s supposed to join him. It’s just a one-time sort of thing, he’s convinced himself. Aerith wouldn’t mind. He hoped. If she asked, he’d tell her the truth about it; it’s not as if he can help being curious. Scope out the location, the people. Make sure it’s a legitimate sort of thing and everyone’s enjoying themselves. There’s nothing wrong with that, even if he hadn’t actually wanted to be here. Still…

He pauses the second the girl comes in, and she’s… way too pretty. Her hair’s not the same color as Aerith’s, but it’s a pretty blond. For a second, it reminds him of Cloud’s, though curls replace the spikes, and he swallows, offers her a grin that does a good job disguising what nerves he’s still battling.

“Hey!” Yikes. He doesn’t need to yell at her. Zack drops the tone a bit. “I mean, hi. I’m Zack. You’re…”

“Honey,” she says, all sweet and perfect, and he doesn’t even get a chance to comment. Honey like her hair, but she’s not all that slow about what she wants, shoving him down onto the settee rather than the bed. A perfectly good waste of a bed, though that thought’s immediately aside when she climbs into his lap. “What do you like, I’m Zack?”

Her grin makes him swallow.

“Well, you know… This and that…”

They’re kissing before he gets to finish, the weight of her body against his better than anything he’s felt in a long time, and his hands settle on her hips, stationary until she rolls her hips. Zack can turn his brain off with distraction, forgetting all about his initial reasons for being there and eagerly falling into the new ones Honey’s giving him. A few minutes, and his breath is already a bit erratic, arousal sitting warm under his skin. The weird thing about mako in people is that it tends to react differently to different situations, and sex had always been a bit tricky. It doesn’t take much for him to get hard, the strain of it visible in his pants, but what he does with that…

Zack pushes his hands up into her hair, the kiss hard as he drags her down and rocks against her to get a bit more friction. Turned on as he already is, that doesn’t meant he isn’t going to give her the attention she deserves either. Maybe if he got her on the bed, spread her legs and slid between them—
